Traditional Pottery Promoted at Museum

A forum on“Tsuboya Pottery in the Context of Japanese Pottery” was held on Saturday evening at the Naha Museum of Tsuboya Pottery. The meeting, organized by a group of Friends of the Museum, was to discuss the future of Naha’s distinctive style of pottery, which has been made since ancient times.

Participants gathered under the night sky and discussed the issues affecting the craft, while warming themselves around a charcoal brazier.

Local art commentator Miyagi emphasized the importance of Tsuboya as the foundation of all Okinawan pottery. He also asked everyone to rediscover the excellence of the traditional Tsuboya style.
