House Prices Slashed by Local Authority

Date Posted: 2001-01-26

Okinawa Prefecture Housing Bureau has decided to substantially reduce the price of still unsold government built houses. The prefecture still has 73 three to five years old houses waiting for new owners. The average price of the houses, 42,850,000, will be reduced by 9.2 million to 33,655,000, a discount of 20 percent.

Last year the local government only sold five houses because prices were too high, compared to those available on the open market. Okinawa Prefecture Housing Bureau is hoping that the sales of these houses will provide it with much needed extra cash.
