Computown to Open Shop in Korinza Mall

Date Posted: 2001-01-26

The troubled shopping mall Korinza in Okinawa City will get a key tenant when it re-opens in mid March. Computown, a large computer and software retailer will open a new store in the facility and the mall managers hope that it will draw enough customers so that other tenants will also succeed.

Korinza shopping mall is a joint, so called third sector venture between private companies and Okinawa City. The Okinawa City mayor serves as the president of the mall.

According to sources within Okinawa City, the mall managers tried hard to get Best Denki home appliance retailer to set up shop in Korinza. Both Best Denki and Computown have the same owner based in Fukuoka, but in the end, Computown offered better conditions to the mall.
