If you love fresh seafood, Sam's by the Sea is one of the best, if not the finest, seafood restaurant on island. It has set the standard against which every other restaurant on the island has been judged for more than 35 years. Valentine's Day is a day for love, and it'd be wise of you to take your loved one to the quality of restaurant he or she deserves. You'll probably want to treat that special somebody to a quiet meal in a place with a great atmosphere. Sam's by the Sea is THE PLACE in Okinawa for the occasion! In total, their menu boasts over 47 seafood items including fresh tropical mahi mahi and jumbo prawns, shrimp cocktail, island filet of red snapper, fresh lemon sole, king crab legs, and much more! And if you're a steak person, the restaurant also has several great steak and chicken dinners available. There's truly something for everybody.

This special set dinner includes crab avocado California as the appetizer, a choice of sole with champagne and grapes (¥2,600) or tenderloin steak madeira (¥3,600) as the main entre, and a special dessert called "Sweet Romance." The meal also includes Sam’s famous curry soup, salad, and rice or bread.

However, you can't go wrong if you'd rather just order off the menu. Some of the most famous dinners are Fresh Tropical Mahi Mahi and Jumbo Prawns (¥2,700), Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi (¥1,600), Island Filet of Red Snapper (¥1,600), and Seafood Lau Lau (¥1,850). If you prefer steak over seafood, Sam's has several steak dinners for all sizes of appetites from a 250g Filet Mignon to the 500g Black Angus Porterhouse T-Bone.

Deciding on which of the delicious menu items to choose is the most difficult thing you will have to go through while visiting Sam's by the Sea, so if you have a hard time deciding between seafood or steak, why not go with a combination dinner? There are two Sam's by the Sea restaurants-one in Awase, and one in Oroku, Naha City. Both have a fantastic, professional, courteous staff, and both serve up some of the finest dinners available on Okinawa. Since the early 1960's, Sam's has been providing Okinawa with some of the finest dining anywhere. The restaurant started as a way to bring a bit of America off base. Over the years, it grew in popularity and now serves over 500,000 meals annually. "We've served princes, generals, admirals, sumo wrestlers, dukes and duchesses, presidents and vice presidents, astronauts, belly dancers, professional sports stars, prime ministers, and innumerable international celebrities over the years," it's menu boasts. Over the years is has gained the reputation of being the one restaurant where every foreigner visiting the island has to go at least once.

However, with the excellent reputation Sam's by the Sea has, it's very likely that a great number of thoughtful boyfriends, fiancés, and husbands will be making reservations for the woman of their dreams on this Valentine’s, so if you'd like to treat your loved one to the best, it'd be wise of you to make reservations right away! In that case, call the Awase branch at 098-937-3421 or the Oroku branch at 098-857-0339. Both restaurants are open from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., and dollars, yen, and credit cards are all accepted.

Driving to both the Awase and Oroku branches of Sam's by the Sea is very easy. To get to the Awase branch, driving from Kadena Gate 2, head straight through the Koza 4-corners crossing. Continue straight and across the intersection of Rt. 329. Continue straight and past a Mos Burger fast food restaurant on your left and turn left right after, and you'll come right up to Sam's by the Sea Awase. Along the way, you'll see signs to the restaurant, so it's unlikely you'll get lost trying to find it.

To get to the Oroku branch, drive South on highway 58 until the road splits to the right for the airport or continues straight ahead towards Itoman. Go straight and don't go towards the airport. Eventually, you'll see a Skylane Bowling Alley on your right. Right up ahead, Sam's by the Sea will be on your left.

Plenty of free parking is available at both locations. For more information, check out their website at www.sams-okinawa.jp.
