The Air Force Uses and Abuses People

I would like Ms Hervey ("Sexual Harassment Caused Torment Trauma, Depression" Letters Dec 21) to know that there are people out here who feel exactly as she does. It is a shame when people in the 390th Squadron who are high profile can get away with sexual harassment just because of who they are. But, don't be suprised. After more than 18 years in the Air Force that's the way it always has been and always will be. Why do so many Senior NCO's just get moved from one job to another? Why are junior officers who can't make the cut just moved from one job to another? I guess the Air Force has just become a welfare agency and if you can't make it don't worry you will just be able to hide out and happily make your career. It seems as if 35% of the force is working and the other 65% is hiding out. Maam, you are not alone. I will be out there at the nearest recuriting station stopping people before they come in and telling them what it's really like.

I am sure if you continue to work hard you will be able to find a much better job in the civilian world where you will be appreciated. Not because of your rank but because of who you are! The Air Force uses and abuses people and nobody in the so called chain of command has the guts to stand up for the troops!! I guess I should have joined the Marines.
