Overseas School Summiteers Sample Pork Ears

Date Posted: 2000-07-01

A group of 30 participants from overseas to the High School Summit scheduled for June 22 through 25, had a welcome party yesterday at Naha International high School in Ameku, Naha City.

Prior to the party, they toured the Heiwa Dori market in Naha City and sampled local food. Asked how they liked the local delicacies like goya, Okinawa soba, pickled pork ears and other dishes, all agreed that they are decidedly different from what they are used to, and most said that the taste is good. The group is scheduled to ride a glass bottomed boat in Zamami today and attend the Okinawa Memorial Day ceremonies at Peace Memorial Corner, tomorrow.
