Nurses May Have Killed Patient

Date Posted: 2000-06-16

Inspection of oxygen breathing apparatus used in a Ginowan hospital when a patient fell into coma in March, revealed that there was nothing wrong with the machine.

Police and hospital officials investigating the accident initially thought the machine had malfunctioned. Now investigators are focusing on a possible mistake by a nurse and negligence on part of the hospital.

Relatives of the patient, who still remains in a coma, claim that the hospital nurses administering the treatment failed to monitor the patient properly. They claim that the patient had been left for two hours without anyone checking, and was discovered unconscious only when a new shift of nurses started work.
