Yomitan Says Europe Comes First

Date Posted: 2000-06-10

The Protocol Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has relented in its fight with local municipalities over the proper way to display the flags of the G-8 countries. Most notably Yomitan Village officials have insisted that they display the flags in their own way.

In a recent interview a Yomitan Village official said that since European heads of state will stay in hotels within the village, itís only proper that the village lines the European flags first in their displays.

Now officials at the Ministry agree, and said that they have accepted the reasoning behind the villageís decision and will stop pushing village officials to change their displays.
