The first phase of a landfill project

The first phase of a landfill project in in Tomishiro Village south of Naha City was completed last week. Consisting of three phases, the work was begun in 1997 and all three phases are scheduled to be completed in 2002.

The first phase is to be used as a residential area. The second phase is a commmercial area and the third will comprise of parks and recreational facilities.

The sale of the land plots will commence in 2001. The total cost of the project is ¥50 billion.
