He has been taking pictures of Okinawan war memorials and Himeyuri Park. “In some respects, the Okinawan war memorial reminds me of the museum in Auschwich and other European war memorials,” Dureau said. Gerald Landau takes pictures of subjects pertaining to Okinawan - European contacts throughout the history. He observes that Okinawa and Europe have had a surprisingly many contacts, as witnessed by a large number of Europeans who are buried here. “This really has opened my eyes to a fact that I did not know existed,” Landau said. |
