The new chairman said that they aim to change the public’s perception of discarded cars. He said few people realize it costs ¥15,000 to ¥25,000 to throw away a car. This encourages people to leave their cars on vacant lots and forests. Okinawa Prefecture officials are also promoting ways to recycle junked cars, and encourage the re-use of parts. There are more than 200 junkyards in Okinawa and members of the new association invite everyone to join. |
