24 Year Record Late Rains

The annual rainy or monsoon season is exceptionally late this year, according to Okinawa Weather Bureau. Officials say it has been 24 years since the rains didn’t arrive by May 15.

The Weather Bureau says that a high pressure front is lingering over Okinawa, preventing the monsoon from moving north. However, they expect the high pressure front to recede by the weekend and the rain front to reach Okinawa by the weekend.
