PM Mori Visits Okinawa

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori wrapped up a one-day visit to Okinawa yesterday. The main purpose of his visit was to attend the inauguration ceremony of the G8 Summit main conference hall at Busena Resort. He also visited the new Peace Memorial Park and made a speech at the Children’s Summit that took place in Naha City yesterday. 160 dignitaries including Okinawa Governor Keiichi Inamine, U.S. Ambassador Thomas Foley, and Nago City Mayor Tateo Kishimoto attended the ceremony. In his inauguration speech, Governor Inamine said “This hall will become the symbol of great friendship among the nations of the world. It will not only promote Okinawa, but be the showcase for the culture of whole Japan and show that the Japanese culture has great diversity.”
