Trans Ocean Airways Strike Strands 800Date Posted: 2000-05-05 Eight hundred passengers were stranded at Naha Airport. Many of them blamed the striking flight crews for being too rigid in their negotiations and going on strike too easily. Most passengers also said that the union should have better informed the public beforehand, and that the strike took them by surprise. The airline officials tried to put the pasengers on other carriers, but many faced delays of as much as six hours. The biggest complaint by the union besides the pay, is the company’s recent policy of hiring most new employees on a temporary contract basis. |
