Chinese Captain Arrested for Illegal FishingDate Posted: 2000-05-05 The MSA spotted four fishing boats that turned to be Chinese. Officials boarded the vessels and discovered one of them with a full cargo of fish. When questioned, the captain of the boat admitted having caught the fish from the Aguni waters. He was subsequently arrested. No fish were found on the other three boats and their captains denied engaging in any illegal fishing in the area. They also declined to say why they were there in the first place. After questioning, they were told to leave. |
