Filippino TV Available

Date Posted: 2000-04-29

A Filippino subscription television is now available in Okinawa. Called "Wins" it aims to serve the Filippino community in Okinawa which numbers..... The new channel will cost 3,000 a month and will require an initial down payment of 9000, which includes the first three months subscription. The channel will air various popular network dramas, music videos, movies, and sports from the most popular Phillipine networks like ABS-CBN.

The new network is the brainchild of Clay Cook, founder of Vision One which puts out SKYPerfecTV and DirecTV. Cook's ambition is to create a one-stop shop for all his customers' communications needs. With small initial funding and a September 1998 start-up, he tried lots of different strategies and sales techniques. These included creating and handing out flyers in off-base districts. He feels he quickly learnt a lot about doing business in Japan.

The company now offers dish installation, an internet service, cellular and long distance links, domestic telecommunications, cable routing, computer repair and upgrade.

Cook regards providing quality service to both American, Japanese and now Filippino communities as the both the main strength and also the greatest challenge of his business. Providing good service to different communities "is not that simple" he says. "It takes a lot of training, being able to cross the cultural gap." He believes his company's attention to this aspect of the business means that customers walking through Vision One's door can feel the quality of service on offer.
