Kunigami Village to open new eco-tourism attraction

Date Posted: 2002-02-15

Kunigami Village Mayor Yasunari Uehara and Nanto Keikaku Co. President Soken Oshiro on Feb. 7 announced that the village’s Ginama area would be named “Kongosekirinzan” (Mountain of Golden Rocks) due to its unusually shaped rock formations and would be opened as a tourist attraction starting on March 17. Improved at a cost of ¥250 million, the 46,200-square-meter section of land offers the public a walking path, a viewing spot and a parking area. Kongosekirinzan is also expected to become a popular destination for eco-tourism in northern Okinawa. Admission will be ¥500 for adults and ¥300 for children.
