The administration of Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori has reportedly rekindled the old idea of establishing the United Nations Asia Headquarters in Okinawa. The announcement came as he was interviewed by local media on concerns about his recent remarks, when he castigated the Okinawan press as being overly against the central government. The Prime Minister said he did not mean to come out as being against Okinawa, but rather advised the media and Okinawan schools to show more respect to the symbols of Japan. The Prime Minister plans to visit Okinawa before the Summit next month.
