Hospital has no Clue how Medical Waste Dumped in Field

An Okinawa Prefecture Environment and Health Section investigation has revealed that medical waste dumped in a field in Nago City in December, came from a private hospital in central Okinawa. Hospital officials say they have no idea how the waste ended up in Nago. To support their claim they have presented investigators a set of documents that show that the waste was taken to an incinerator and burned as required by law. However, two bags from a truckload of medical waste from the hospital were found discarded in the field. To add to the mystery, one of the bags was found to have left the hospital a year earlier. The incinerator operator says all medical waste must be burned immediately after it arrives at their facility. The investigation continues.
