Giant Statues to be Put in Naha Airport

Date Posted: 2000-04-14

A giant shisa statue is scheduled to be unveiled in the lobby of Naha Airport at the end of April. Renowned master potter Eiyo Arakaki of Yomitan has created an Arayaki-style pair of the nearly six-foot tall figures. According to Arakaki, it takes three days to bake the figures because of their size. He says that the trick is to avoid cracks. The shisas will be placed in the second floor departure lobby of the airport.
