In Gushikawa City a 25-year old woman tried to kill her 11 month old daughter who had been in hospital with a terminal illness. The mother allegedly went to her daughter’s hospital room and cut an IV tube in order to kill the child. A nurse noticed what she was doing and called the police. When questioned, the woman told the police that she couldn’t bear the sight of her daughter suffering and thought it was better to let her die quickly.
