Date Posted: 2000-04-08

A sightseeing ferry ran on the rocks off Naha City, Sunday. The glass bottom boat, a 19-ton Naha II, was carrying 45 tourists and crew of five at the time of the accident. No one was injured. The incident happened as the boat was approaching a reef.

The ferry was stuck on the reef for two hours, but the captain reportedly did not call for rescue. A team of the 11th Maritime Safety Agency personnel training nearby, immediately arrived at the scene and rescued the passengers and the crew.
