This unique park, located near Camp Shields, is beautifully composed of over 2000 ornamental plants, including palms, water lilies and ferns. Of course, there’s always much more at the Gardens than just that which nature can offer. So, pack a picnic and enjoy a lunch under the shady trees or just buy a fresh made-to-order fruit juice for ¥500 at the “gourmet parlor.” Tour buses will take you through the aquatic gardens for ¥300, familiarizing you with the tropical nuance of the carp-filled ponds and the Polynesian lake. The souvenir shop and the plant market also offer a variety of tropical fruits and plants to take home. The Southeast Botanical Gardens could also be the perfect place to spend a day of reflection with in solitude, with a date, or with the whole family. Admission to these 100 acres of exotic paradise is only a ¥1,000 for adults and ¥500 for children. During the famous Golden Week that is celebrated every year in May, the Botanical gardens hosts grandiose festivities for the enjoyment of all. This year, the Gardens’ management is planning to organize lots of activities from May 3rd to 7th in commemoration of Golden Week holidays, and cultural troupes from Taiwan have already been scheduled to liven up the festivities.
