Dutch Crown Prince to Visit Japan in April

According to a press release from the Government Information Service in Amsterdam, Holland, Dutch Crown Prince Willem Alexander will spend nine days visiting Japan in April, as part of celebrations to mark 400 years of Japanese-Dutch relations. Willem Alexander is due to arrive on Monday, April 17th and visit the towns of Nagasaki, Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo and other cities.

Last month, Dutch Prime Minister Wim Kok visited Japan and said the two countries should put their wartime past behind them after Tokyo had restated its atonement for World War Two.

Japanese World War Two occupation forces put all the 110,000 Dutch residents of Indonesia, including women and children, into camps. About 20,000 of them died in the camps.
