Air Force May Fitness 2000 - Let the Games Begin!Date Posted: 2000-04-01 During 2000, fitness centers worldwide will encourage Air Force personnel to make fitness a regular part of their daily lives. Each base will conduct special events and programs during May and a worldwide 5K Fitness Run is planned during Armed Forces Week (14-20 May). “May Fitness Month continues to be one of our major events, especially this year as we commemorate the 2000 Olympics,” explained SSgt Robert Parent, Risner Fitness Complex’s Acting Fitness Director. “We will conduct both fitness and sports events to attract newcomers to the fitness center. Their efforts may make them eligible for the Grand Prize -- a trip for four to the Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis. The 2000 program, sponsored in part by Gatorade and StairMaster, will use stamp cards where participants accrue points to earn an incentive prize and become eligible for the grand prize. “Here at Kadena, we’re working on special fitness events during May, such as Water Aerobics on May 1, Youth Kickball on May 2, Tennis Tournaments on May 13 & 14, a Healthy Cooking Class on May 24, and a Memorial Day Aerobathon on May 29,” said Parent. May Fitness Month events are designed for all ages, however individuals must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for the Grand Prize.
