Date Posted: 2000-04-01

12-year-old Ari Ishikawa from Naha City had a marrow transplant last February thanks to the charity money from a "Group to Support Airi-chan”. This group also donated ¥8,300,000 to the Marrow Bank Support Group and other two groups on 27th. Airi Ishikawa was back at Makabi Elementary School since March 1st, and graduated on the 23rd. She is going to enter Matsushima Junior High School in April. Her father, Takashi Ishikawa says, “She can’t have hard exercise yet and goes to school with a flu mask to avoid contracting an infection. Other than that, she enjoys school like other healthy children.” A grateful and cheerful Airi wrote in a letter that, “I am glad to graduate with my friends. I appreciate what everybody has been doing to support me. I hope that children who are fighting with sickness will not give up hope.”
