Two JHS Girls, Four Adults Held for Narcotics Use

Date Posted: 2000-03-17

Police arrested four men suspected of using and selling stimulant drugs after a junior high school teacher called them to come and check on one of his students who appeared at the school seemingly under influence of narcotics.

When questioned, the 14-year-girl told the police that she and one of her friends of the same age had gotten the stimulants on several occasions from a man in a motel. Based on the girl’s story, the police arrested a 33-year-old base worker who then fingered three other men. All were arrested on suspicion of using and selling illegal stimulants. The two girls are now being held in protective custody.

The 33-year old man suspected of giving the drugs to the girls told the police that they got the drugs by ordering them through a cellular telephone. The drugs then arrived by mail or parcel service. According to investigators, the man claims that it is possible to buy a cellular telephone that has a number programmed in where one can order drugs. The cost of the phone is said to be ¥2 to ¥3 million.
