West Indian Carnival Mardi Gras on the Horizon

The West Indian Association will be organizing a Carnival Mardi Gras on Sunday, March 26th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Camp Foster (6th Marine Division Rd. and Stillwill Dr.). The purpose of the event, according to a press release signed by Jamesky L. Mardy, President of the West Indian Association of Okinawa, will be “to promote cultural diversity among military families and the Okinawan community.”

All military and private organizations are invited to participate in the carnival of colorful costumes and masquerades. Registration forms can be picked and dropped off at Bldg. 5687, Camp Foster (Attn: GySgt. Mardy). Any volunteers who wish to participate in the organization are welcome. All submissions should be made before March 17th, the day scheduled for a briefing with participants and sponsors at 1:00 p.m. The briefing will take place at Foster Chapel Annex Bldg., Camp Foster.
