Nago Women’s Group Receives Letter from First Lady

Date Posted: 2000-03-05

A Nago women’s group working towards having the First Lady Hillary Rodham-Clinton to attend a cultural show and give a lecture during the 2000 G-8 Summit in Nago, announced that they received a letter from the First Lady on February 14th. The group members said at a press conference arranged at the Summit Promotion Committee Office that the First Lady is looking forward to her visit to Nago City. She also said in the letter that she is in the process of making her own itinerary during the Summit.

The women’s group sees the letter as a good sign. “We think that this is good news for us. We are now preparing a detailed plan which we will send for her approval,” the chairwoman of the group said.

The group sent the letter to the First Lady through the US Ambassador Thomas Foley in April last year. They proposed that the theme of the lecture would be “Advice to Young People with Education Problems.”

“We have these problems everywhere, even in Nago City. It will be good to get to know what the White House thinks,” a member of the group said.
