Telecom Networking 2000 Exhibition/Seminar in Tokyo

The Commercial Section of the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, has announced its Telecom Networking 2000 Exhibition and Seminar, to be held this Thursday, February 24th and Friday 25th at the US Trade Center in Sunshine City, Ikebukuro, Tokyo.

Inspired by global advances in information technology and deregulation efforts by the Government of Japan, Japan's telecommunications market is today moving at great speed, and the U.S. Embassy has responded to this challenge. This latest event will encompass advanced data and networking technologies. Fifteen US telecommunications-related companies will showcase leading-edge, globally competitive technologies for telecom related products in the areas of XDSL, Optical Data Transfer, IP/ATM Integration, Data Network, Voice-over-IP, and Internet Telephony.

The exhibiting firms are ADTRAN Inc., Agilent Technologies, Inc., Brooktrout Technology Inc., Channell, Compunetix Inc., Copper Mountain Networks Inc., Dialogic Corporation, EMS Wireless, Latitude Communications, Inc., Midtronics, Inc., PairGain Technologies, Inc., SALIX Technologies, Inc., SAS Institute Inc., Sycamore Networks, and Tellabs Operations, Inc. Throughout the two-day exhibition, technical experts from fourteen of these firms will also make technical presentations.

Telecom Networking 2000 is co-organized by the Manufactured Imports Promotion Organization (MIPRO). The event has also received the formal support of the American Electronic Association (AEA) and the U.S. Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). Two keynote speakers will kick off the seminar presentations: Mr. Vinod Kumar, President & CEO of MCI WorldCom Japan will deliver an address on "Convergence: The Changing Role of Telecommunications Companies in the IT Industry" at 10:00 a.m. on February 24th, and Mr. Ray K. Tsuchiyama, Director of Business Development, Tegic Communications Japan (a division of America OnLine), will speak on "Betting on Mobile Internet: Killer Applications in Japan's Telecom Industry" at 10:00 a.m. the next day.
