Districts Launch 2000 Summit Cleanup Project

Over two million people gathered in their districts to begin the “2000 Summit Cleanup Project” on Sunday, January 23rd. Among the 700-plus volunteers were politicians and federal employees dressed in Summit windbreakers. The Peace Park, Convention Center and the Naha Airport were among the areas cleaned. The vice-governor, Makino Hirotaka, agrees that the upcoming summit is “a chance to emphasize the natural beauty of Okinawa.” The clean-up project is scheduled to be held again in May and in July.
