Man drowns despite heroic fisherman’s rescue effortDate Posted: 2012-08-24 While rescue paramedics were en route to the Kadena Marina in Kaneku district of Kadena Town, an angler went into the water 400 meters offshore, rescued the man and brought him to shore, and began attempts to resuscitate him. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m. The man, as yet unidentified, is believed to be 40-50 years of age. Both Kadena Police and the Nirai Fire Station are investigating the cause of the death. |
