Marine charged with assaulting, fondling a Naha City womanDate Posted: 2012-08-24 Ian Christopher Tarver is charged with attacking a woman in her 40’s from behind, causing her to fall down. The Marine is also accused of fondling her. The victim suffered slight injuries, including scratches on her head that require a week to heal. Naha City Police say Tarver pulled the woman down as she walked in a residential area, dragged her into an alley and performed an obscene act, then hit her over the head. The incident happened about 4 a.m. Sunday. Tarver was seen by neighborhood residents who heard the woman’s screams, but he escaped. Naha Police responding to the scene found Tarver about 300 meters away. Tarver voluntarily accompanied officers to a police station, where an emergency arrest was made. Tarver denies the charges. Naha Police say Tarver came to Naha City the previous night by bus. Tarver said he’d been drinking, but alcohol was not detected on his breath. |
