Famous ‘A-lunch’ heads to Osaka

Date Posted: 2012-08-08

A famous menu in many Okinawa restaurants, to Koza ‘A-lunch’, is en route to Okinawa City’s newest sister city, Toyonaka City, Osaka.

The A-lunch, which originated in Okinawa City, is heading to the Toyonaka Festival. Officials say the A Lunch will be introduced at the main venue of the festival, the Toyonaka Peaceful Love Rock Festival Contest, where Okinawan folk songs and Eisa dance will be performed. Okinawa City and Toyonaka City became sister cities last weekend.

The head of the executive committee, Kouji Yoshimura, says “Toyonaka City was prompted by watching Okinawan performing arts before holding the festival. Now, Toyonaka City’s original culture is forming.” Okinawa City Mayor Mitsuko Toumon says “when I participated in the festival six years ago, I felt emotion because there is Okinawa, too. We want to continue such a mingling in a variety of ways.”
