Festival marks FC Ryukyu 10th anniversaryDate Posted: 2012-08-03   The football match itself is the soccer competition between FC Ryukyu vs Fujieda MYFC from Shizuoka Prefecture, with the kick off at 4 p.m. The action takes place at Okinawa Prefectural Comprehensive Park Athletic Field in Hiyagon, Awase, in Okinawa City. To celebrate the FC Ryukyu 10th year anniversary, the 10,000 Soccer Festival 2012 events start from noon and continue through 8 p.m. Soccer and basketball free style performances begin at noon, with Ryukyu QT & GGXILE dance performances to follow. Imitator Mikami goes live on stage at 1:15 p.m., followed by the Harusa Eika Show. At 3 p.m., Green Note Coaster performs live, while Lucky Color’s – Black Stars take to the stage at 6 p.m. FC Ryukyu will have a 10th anniversary photo booth and a uniform display and goods shop, while booths will be serving beer, awamori, Lawson foods, Pizza Inn, JA Okinawa and Okinawa Ham. Entertainment includes a Soccer challenge area, a Lifting tournament, Kick target, Trap machine and a Kids area with both an Aqua world pool, and an animal friendly area. FC Ryukyu was established 10 years ago in 2003, and promoted to the Japan Football League after winning their regional tournament in 2006. This year, there are five players from Okinawa on FC Ryukyu; forwards Kazuki Ganaha and Takumi Uezato, middlefielders Kousuke Kuninaka and Yuya Shima, and defender Taishi Sunagawa all hail from Okinawa Prefecture. FC Ryukyu is now completing requirements to be promoted to the top J League. They need to clear three requirements to take part in the J league. They must place within the best two in the JFL during the season, need to have a home stadium that meets J league's standards, and average more than 3,000 in audience in each game. The FC Ryukyu has already cleared “Home stadium”, although it is not in good enough condition right now, but the prefecture has agreed to renovate the Okinawa Prefecture Stadium to the required standard, so this is considered as a done deal. Sunday’s event will be held to announce the intention to clear the other two requirements, before starting the renovation work of the Athletic field.
