South Korean wins LPGA’s Evian Masters

Date Posted: 2012-08-03

Innbe Park of South Korea applied plenty of pressure to established players on the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour, outdistancing all of them to win the 2012 Evian Masters.

Both Okinawa LPGA members, Ai Miyazato and Mika Miyazato, were battling for supremacy at the event in eastern France, but couldn’t get or keep traction against the young Korean, who walked off with $487,500, the second-largest purse on the LPGA circuit. Mika Miyazato played well the first two rounds, moving as high as fifth in the event standings, but couldn’t hold position, finishing in a tie for 16th.

Ai Miyazato, who won the Evian Masters several years ago, finished in 21st place. Second place this year went to Karrie Webb and Stacy Lewis, who tied with scores of 67. LPGA tour leader Yani Tseng of Taiwan didn’t fare well in the Evian Masters.

The LPGA Tour moves now to Toledo, Ohio for the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic presented by Kroger, Owens Corning and Owens Illinois. That tournament takes place August 9th ~ 12th.
