Tomigusuku has plenty of music for weekend festivalDate Posted: 2012-07-27 ![]() ![]() ![]() The Saturday and Sunday festival starts at 9 a.m. both days at Chursasun Beach south area, where Haari races get all the attention. Stage events begin at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. This weekend marks the 30th annual Tomigusuku Festival, but its 10th anniversary, as Tomigusuku changed from being a village to being a city ten years ago. Today, it’s a burgeoning area, with Outlet Mall Ashibina, Tomiton, the Farmers Market, Yamada Electric and the Vehicle License Center. Saturday’s entertainment includes kids performances in the afternoon, leading to Tomigusuku Ondo at 7 p.m., DJ Sasa with The Islanders at 7:25 p.m., and On the Do=Ro at 7:55 p.m. Civilian Skunk performs at 8:30 p.m., setting the stage for fireworks shortly before 9 p.m. A karate performance launches Sunday afternoon entertainment at 2 p.m., followed by Eisa. Kiyama Shoten performs at 7:30 p.m, and Southern Band Okinawa at 8:05 p.m. Fireworks caps the festival evening at 8:55 p.m. Organizers caution there’s limited parking in the Toyosaki Kaihin Park area, as well as at Churasun Beach. They recommend using public transportation to visit the festival. |
