JAL to add Tokyo-San Diego non-stop service

Date Posted: 2012-07-07

Direct nonstop flights from Tokyo to San Diego start in early December on Japan Airlines as the high flying Japanese national carrier expands its international routes structure and adds additional Boeing aircraft to its fleet.

December 2nd is the start date for the four flights a week schedule on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. JAL will operate the joint business service with business partner American Airlines. Japan Airlines also intends to start daily Tokyo Narita service to New Delhi, beginning October 28th.

Increased corporate business demand is fueling the new routes, and also the aircraft assigned to them. JAL says it will be switching to the larger Boeing 777-200ER planes, which offer Premium Economy service, too. The wide-body 777-200ER planes will replace Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners now assigned to the route.
