Quaint and tranquil CanNa Resort Villa

Date Posted: 2012-06-29

Bigger is not always better, and CanNa Resort Villa is living proof that a tranquil, restful resort visit is appreciably done in a small, quiet setting.
CanNa Resort Villa is one of the highest grade resort hotels in Okinawa, spread across a 3,000 tsubo, or 9,000 square meter site, but with only 30 villas for visitors. Those villas are all suite types, with 15 set up as twin rooms, and 14 others configured as double rooms. One building is used only for beauty parlor services.

Villas are designed in two styles. Some are with a wooden outside deck, while others have garden type yards. There are pluses and minuses to each, with much of the decision-making based on personal preference. Some villas have a breathtaking ocean view. A little more expensive? Sure. But if you lodge at a villa that doesn’t have the ocean view, the sticker price is a bit less. It’s all in what you want.

CanNa Resort Villas has just introduced a special package plan where visitors can stay for ¥12,800 per person per night, and that includes breakfast and dinner in a twin type villa. The special runs July 13th. As with all resorts, basic prices for rooms vary according to season, so it’s best to call the hotel for specifics. In general, weekday prices are cheaper than on weekends, and special discounts are offered to those making reservations at least `90 days in advance.

The year is broken into three seasons, and prices vary by season and hotel demand. Holiday periods like Golden Week are typically more expensive than a late spring or early fall travel time. There are standard rates, and also Early Bird and deals for people staying more than two months, and others for those making advance bookings. The customer’s preferences are always taken into consideration. For example, a garden type villa provides a private BBQ in the garden. All rooms are equipped with American style Simmons made beds.

CanNa Resort Villa’s main building has a restaurant, café, Izakaya, and a ballroom that can accommodate parties of about 50 in table setting, or 70 to 80 in cocktail-style parties. There is also a small fitness gym with exercise machines available free for use by guests. At the pool side, there is an outdoor chapel for wedding ceremonies. Likewise, the beauty parlor is open to everybody, but reservations are required.

CanNa Resort Villas also specializes in weddings, and making that special day truly memorable. The villas’ fantastic ocean view, the chapel area, and the ballroom as the site for a wedding party or second party add to the ambience of that once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Every establishment prides itself on having great food, and CanNa Resort Villas is no exception. The restaurant’s menu changes according to each season, and while the main dishes’ are Japanese-style food, there are choices of foreign cuisine or Japanese options at breakfast.

A very special local dish is served at the resort. The restaurant has Ginoza Village’s special Ginoza Burger, called the “AGUMO Burger”. The Ginoza burger was born as Ginoza Village’s original product as part of the village’s revitalization project several years ago. CanNa Resort Villa serves its Ginoza burger day and night, with a set including potato fries and a soft drink going for ¥900, or the burger alone for ¥600.

CanNa Resort Villas restaurants are open to the public, and not restricted to guests, and prices are generally very reasonable for a first class resort, The villas’ management invites people to stop by while out sightseeing in northern Okinawa. In the Izakaya, Ryukyu cuisine is served at reasonable prices. In the café, relax in the daytime, and stick around as the café changes style at night to a bar. CanNa Resort Villa has English menus, so ordering tasty dishes is accomplished without stress.

An outdoor pool with an ocean view is the hallmark of vacation relaxation at CanNa Resort Villa. The pool can be used from April to October, and at pool side, visitors can eat BBQ with three group reservations possible each day. When ordering the BBQ, CanNa Resort Villa provides BBQ sets including the tools, meats and everything else needed for your cook-it-yourself experience.

CanNa Resort Villa holds a lot of events throughout the year, including full-moon concerts. There are also special programs such as Eisa dance season, Christmas season and more. CanNa Resort Villa held marathon contest, the Kanna Marathon the past two years, starting simple with a 10km run, then last year upping it to 10 miles. The year before last was 10 km, and last year was 10 miles. This year, the marathon’s slated for November, and winners will be receiving free lodging at CanNa Resort Villa
