Beach cleaning leads to free Reggae Festival

Date Posted: 2012-06-22

A dozen bands and deejays will handle the entertainment side of Sunday, as the 8th Irie Camp Reggae Festival caps off an afternoon that starts with beach cleaning at Sunabe Baba Park in Chatan Town.

Everything’s free at the festival except the food. The worthy cause side is a beach cleaning project that gets under way at 1:30 p.m., with everyone gathering at the Baba Park entrance at 1 p.m. The music jams begin at 2:30 p.m., with twelve bands and other performers stepping onto the stage to entertain.

U-Dou & Platy will be there, along with Tak-Z, Big Gear, NG Head, 45 from Jammin’, Newman, Deki-T, DJ Francis, I & I Star, Godmaking, Simpson, and Selector Shin. A parking lot next to Baba Park has space for 150 cars. All beach cleaning participants get a free event fan.

An After-Party takes place at Salt & Pepper in Carnival Park Mihama Sunday night. Admission to the party, which runs 9 p.m. ~ 4 a.m., is ¥2,000. Entry is restricted to those 18 and older; ID checks will be performed at the venue entrance. Performing at the After-Party will be Godmaking, Metro Bank, Precius Ryukyu, I & I Star, Haisai and dancer Lil ‘Heachee.
