Marine NCO busted for drinking & driving

Date Posted: 2012-06-15

A 22-year-old Marine sergeant has been arrested by Uruma City Police and charged with drinking and driving, a violation of the Japan Road Traffic Law.

Sergeant Omer Sadana has denied part of the charges filed against him, insisting although he’d been drinking a night earlier, he’s sure all alcohol had left his system prior to his having been arrested at 4:10 a.m. in the Noborikawa district of Okinawa, where he was charged with driving under the influence. The Uruma City Police investigation says Sadana had been drinking and driving.

Sadana’s car had scraped another car driving on the street, prompting that driver to call the police emergency number to report “My car was hit by another car that did not stop.” The driver had written down Sadana’s license number, which he passed to a police dispatcher. That information triggered a “Be on the Lookout” alert that led to Sadana’s being stopped and arrested.
