The lecture is organized by Professor Gail Tripp, who heads the OIST Developmental Neurobiology Unit. Reservations can be made to the OIST Children’s Research Center, (098) 966-8814. The OIST Children’s Research Center is also under Professor Tripp’s leadership. She’s a registered clinical psychologist from New Zealand. Her staff members have advanced degrees in psychology and are experienced in working with children and families in the United States and Japan. The center’s goal is to understand the causes of ADHD. Symptoms of ADHD include inattention, over-activity and impulsivity. Dr. Tripp explains previous research suggests that children with ADHD differ in how they respond to reinforcement, such as being praised, winning or losing points. She says “we are investigating the nature of these differences and how they may contribute to symptoms of ADHD.” The lecture will take place in the OIST Auditorium, 1919-1 Tancha, Onna-son. |
