Date Posted: 2012-06-01

The U.S. Defense Department is promising Japan that investigation results of a MV-22 Osprey crash in Morocco will be immediately provided to Tokyo.

The April 11th accident of the tilt-wing Osprey left two Marines dead and two others injured during a drill with Moroccan forces , triggering new fears from Okinawans and Japanese concerned because the Osprey’s slated for deployment to Okinawa. The MV-22, which can take off and land vertically, is slated to arrive in Okinawa in mid-summer, with the transport aircraft ultimately going to the controversial Futenma Marine Corps Air Station in Ginowan.

The Osprey has been involved in several fatal crashes during its test flights, leading Okinawa officials and residents to voice concern the Osprey is not a safe aircraft.
