Husband & wife busted for growing cannabis

Date Posted: 2012-05-18

A husband and wife spent four years raising marijuana plants in their home, and were shocked when police knocked on their door, arrested them and impounded their drugs.

Okinawa Police say they’d received a tip April 26th that the 44-year-old unemployed man, Tsutomu Toma, and his 44-year-old wife Nanako Toma, were growing pot in violation of the Narcotics Control Law. May 8th cops raided the couple’s home in the Yogi district of Okinawa City at 9:34 p.m., confiscating the dry cannabis, 56 hemps and absorption tools.

The couple told police they first received seeds of cannabis about four years ago, and began growing them in back of their house. Once they matured, the couple said they dried them and absorbed the cannabis. Both confessed to charges.

Okinawa Police say the discovery of the drugs growing in the Tomas’ home is triggering an additional investigation. Cops say they’ll now check to see if the couple was dealing the drug, selling cannabis to others.
