Hospitalized kids meet super heroes on Children’s Day

Date Posted: 2012-05-12

Okinawa’s original super heroes, Ryu-jin Mabuya and Ryu-jin Ganashi , carried their superpowers to Tomigusuku Central Hospital to cheer up children who are fighting a serious sickness on the Children’s Day, May 5th.

When Mabuya and Ganashi appeared, children showed surprise at first, but soon the hospital was filled with shouts of joy and applause. A 10-year-old, Shou Youmoto, got a present from Mabuya who visited Shou’s hospital room. Shou said he was surprised because Mabuya stroked his head saying “Do your best”, but he was really glad and felt very motivated for curing his sickness.

Sho’s mother, Hiroe, 41, said her son couldn’t go anywhere because of an asthma attack early in the Golden Week. She said her son felt really disappointed, so it was a really good time for her son.

It’s the tradition of Mabuya to visit hospitals in Okinawa to cheer up children on Children’s Day every year.
