Kirin unveils a fat-busting colaDate Posted: 2012-05-04 ![]() Kirin Mets Cola comes bottled in a catchy plastic bottle sporting an eye-catching red logo on a black field, a logo that bears resemblance to a major league baseball team. The drink contains an indigestible form of dextrin that figures into many products as a fiber supplement that Kirin says the drink’s structure restricts the body’s ability to absorb fat while eating. It contains no sweeteners and has strong carbonation for a refreshing feel. Kirin says blood tests performed in-house after consuming the beverage prove the drink keeps levels of neutral fats low after eating. The company, which brews a variety of alcoholic beverages, says today’s public is demanding more healthy drinks, particularly among 30-something males. With many of today’s fasts foods high-calorie, popular foods like hamburgers, pizza and chips often necessitate a cola accompaniment, a finding that spurred Kirin to develop the new fat-busting diet drink.. Kirin says its target demographic is men who worry about their weight, but still enjoy cola drinks. Mets Cola appeals to health conscious consumers, and also to others who had stopped buying soft drinks as they wrestled with weight issues and health concerns.. The new Kirin Mets Cola hits the market with a ¥150 price for a 480mL bottle. |
