Adults arrested after they beat and killed teenager

Two 27-year-old men and a 23-year-old are in jail, charged with assault resulting in injury and causing death, after a teenager died after being beaten in the Naha Citizens Gym parking lot.

Yoshihide Akamine and Noriyoshi Shinzato have admitted that they and another accomplice attacked 17-year-old Daichi Hidaka, who was beaten in the head, face and belly for more than an hour shortly after midnight last Wednesday. Hidaka died in a hospital a few hours after being admitted.

Naha police arrested 27-year-old Yoshihide Akamine on a charge of an assault resulting in injury and causing death on Apr. 18. He is accused of using violence against two boys with other two accomplices at the Shikina district of Naha city. Another 17-year-old boy who was in the company of Hidaka was injured with a blow on his face. The two accomplices, demolition worker Noriyoshi Shinzato.and construction worker Homare Oshiro, have also confessed.

Investigators say Akamine had called the two boys to the parking lot of Naha Citizenís Gymnasium where he and the two accomplices assaulted to teens, beating and kicking them on face and belly for more than an hour. One of the victims managed to call the police emergency number during the assault, and a police patrol that responded to the scene arrested Akamine on a street nearby, but the accomplices had already left the scene.

Police have requested a judicial autopsy to be conducted to determine the cause of the death.
