Haneji Koinobori Fest to brighten Nago City

The Haneji Koinobori Festival in Nago City is about to begin, with hoisting of streamers next Thursday followed by a three-day fun fest on Friday.

The festival at Haneji Dam Park will feature stage events, canoe rides on the lake, an eel lucky dip, toy crafts, a sled ride and a huge maze, and a tour of the dam. Canoe rides are on the 4th and 5th are 500 for adult and 300 for kids. The other events are free. Parents and kids can create toy craft for free on the 4th and 5th, and the lel lucky dip is free on the 5th.

Organizers remind visitors that only Japanese yen are accepted by vendors; no credit cards or U.S. dollars.

The festival is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 4th and 5th. Koinobori streaming keeps going from the 3rd through 6th. Car parking is available at a temporary parking area and visitors can ride the free shuttle bus to the venue.
