Earthquake relief charity event set for Kokusai St.

Date Posted: 2012-04-06

Kokusai Dori becomes ROCKsai Dori Sunday as ten rock groups and solo artists perform to raise funds for the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and ‘Tsunami Relief Fund.

The 1 p.m. event is being organized by Paul Vermehren of the rock band Dog Day Afternoon. Vermehren organized the first rock relief concert last October, raising more than ¥53,000 for the disaster relief fund. The event runs through sunset.

Sunday’s concert features Kluso, The Islanders, and Handsome Strangers as Vermehren hopes to raise an even larger amount. The event takes place on the plaza on Kokusai Street, across from McDonald’s. He says that although the concert is free, he hopes people will make donations, promising that all proceeds will be sent to the charity.
