Free Basic Japanese Language Classes

The Kadena Family Support Centerís Cultural Awareness Program will be organizing basic Japanese Language Classes Mondays and Wednesdays, from January 17th through February 23rd, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The courses will take place in the Kadena Family Support Center, Building 99. Those who want to participate in the classes must register no later than this Friday, January 14th.

The language classes will be conducted by Mr. Nobuyoshi Uehara, Vice Principal at Naha High School and a former Japanese instructor with the University of Maryland. He will be presenting an integrated study of the fundamentals of Japanese, with emphasis on listening comprehension and speaking skills. The relationship of culture and customs to language use and development, as well as instruction and information on Japanese and Okinawan customs and cultures, will also be highlighted.

The lessons are free of charge, but students will be required to purchase a related text book. For more information, contact Eiko Ishikawa @ 634-3366.
